1978 Chevrolet Corvette 25th Anniversary Pace Car with only 17 miles on the odometer!
**This rare Corvette Pace Car is being unveiled to the public for sale for the first time since 1978! **
This Corvette was delivered to D&C Chevrolet in Tenafly, New Jersey on April 22, 1978. Like most Pace Cars in early 1978 this car was sold from dealership to dealership leaving D&C Chevrolet to be sold to Carib Autos Incorpated in Bronx, New York in May 1978. It was then sold again from Carib to Stateside Automotive Assocation Inc. also in Bronx, New York. Finally, the Corvette is then sold to Crest Pontiac Cadillac, Inc. in Newington Connecticut in May 1978.
The individual purchased this Corvette from Crest Pontiac, Cadillac Inc. on May 9, 1978. Documentation of his cancelled check shows ownership where he paid in full for this Corvette but he never titled the car choosing to keep it under the factory Manufacturers Statement of Origin to a Motor Vehicle a.k.a MSO.
Imagine how brand new, from the factory this car would have been... that is exactly how the car presents today. The owner took possession of this car before the dealership was able to do any prep, for example, the front spoiler was never installed and the car was never serviced, the plastic seat protectors were never discarded, the factory cardboard is still protecting the carpet. All of the factory hang tags and instructions are still in place. The owner put this Corvette with only 13 miles in his garage, covered with blankets and preserved every aspect of this car. The window sticker and fuel statement were left hanging in the passenger side window. The corvette was only moved an additional 4 miles over the next 35 years.
This is truly a GM factory time capsule from 1978! The factory decals are in an unoppened GM box, the original floor mats and T-Top bags are stored in the rear of the car with the spoiler still in its package and instructions and hardware to install the spoiler.
This Corvette is so original it could probably be used as a NCRS Benchmark car. This Corvette is certainly a canidate for an NCRS Top Flight, Bloomington Gold, and Survivor Class Award. This is one of the finest low mileage Pace Cars a person could own that is in existance today!
